DOVER - Harry Berlin "Buck" Semans of Dover, passed away Wednesday, July 06, 2011, at Christiana Medical Center in Wilmington. He was 83. He was born on July 03, 1928, in Harrington, to the late Louder and Estella Larimore Semans. He was a Charter member of V.C.F. Ruritan Club, holding all officer positions including that of Regional District Governor. He was a Master Sergeant in the Delaware National Guard. He was a 1947 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School. Buck retired from International Playtex in 1986, after 38 years in Office Services. He worked for the State of Delaware, Division of Parks and Recreation at Killen's Pond for 17 years, and was a licensed plumber for more than 20 years. Buck was an avid sports enthusiast playing baseball while at Caesar Rodney High School and in the Mid-Delaware league traveling the Delaware, Maryland, and Va. areas. He played softball on various local Dover leagues, and with the over 65 group of Delaware Senior Olympics. He also bowled with several local Dover leagues, and enjoyed pitching horse shoes and playing volleyball with the family and friends. His hobbies were reading, history, traveling, designing and remodeling homes, cooking, and his greatest joy was tending his garden, which he had every year of his life, sharing fresh vegetables with family and friends. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Stanton Chambers, and Elizabeth Stanton Jester; five brothers, Roland Stanton, Wilson Stanton, Robert Semans, Clayton Semans, and Nicholas Semans. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Darling Semans of Dover; daughter and her husband, Rebecca "Becky" and John Calvert, of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter and her husband, Jena McNatt and Brian George, of Fort Worth, Texas; grandson and his wife, Ryan and Micah Calvert; and one great-granddaughter, Parker Marie Calvert, all of Amarillo, Texas; together with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a very special sister in law, Frances D. Moore, and niece, June Louise Semans. Remembrance Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE. Friends may also call July 11, at noon till time of the service at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
