Gail Emily Davidson Bazzarre Gail Emily Davidson Bazzarre died on Sunday, January 19, 2014. She was born on July 22, 1933, to parents, Walter McDowell Davidson and Helen Marie Fossum Davidson. Her happy childhood was spent in Hinsdale, Illinois, a beautiful suburb of Chicago. She was the middle child, with an older sister, Margery Louise, and a younger brother, Walter Fossum. Delightful summers were spent swimming at the local country club or vacationing at her grandfather's cottage on Pickerel Lake in northern Michigan. She graduated in 1955 from Sweet Briar College located near Amherst, Virginia. College taught her the value of learning, and the life-long joy of reading. Gail married John Thomas Bazzarre in 1956 and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where they spent all of their married lives. They were lucky to have three children who brought them much pleasure and joy: Helen Virginia Byerly, Scott Davidson Bazzarre, and Julia Beale Jolie. They produced seven beautiful grandchildren: Asher, Amber, Jessica, Emma, Alexandra, Chase and Skyler. There are four great- grandchildren (so far!): Vanessa Ann, Henry, Makayla, and William. All are healthy, outgoing, and smart. How lucky is that? Gail began her married life working at WCHV Radio for eight years, mostly in bookkeeping, and enjoyed on-air work with a half-hour program "Penny on the Air," for women, which ran from Monday through Friday. With the arrival of their third child, Gail stayed home for five years, and then went back to work at WINA Radio for 14 years, mostly doing bookkeeping work, but occasionally lending her "mature" woman's voice to commercials. Always a "joiner" Gail had many outside interests which kept her busy, such as the University League/Junior League, Children's Theater, DAR, book clubs, and many wonderful trips to Europe traveling with her sister. For the past 40 years, she has enjoyed lending her talents to Church of Our Saviour on East Rio Road. For 12 years she sang in the choir and recently headed up 1 of 3 Altar Guild teams. Gail loved cooking and serving at funeral receptions in the Church Parish Hall. It was a satisfying life, where happiness far outweighed any unhappy times. Her children made her so proud, and she enjoyed hearing about every accomplishment they achieved. Gail's life was filled with beautiful children, faithful friends, useful service to others, and many good blessings. Gail was someone you could always turn to when you needed a loving shoulder. She was an amazing mother, wife, and friend. She always looked forward in life; she did not fear tomorrow, and had unfailing strength to make the best of each day. She is now at peace. The family could not have gotten through Gail's death without the extensive and much appreciated help of caregiver, Belle Rush. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. for Gail on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Church of Our Saviour, 1165 East Rio Road in Charlottesville. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to Church of Our Saviour.
