From bio of son Dr. Thomas H. Jefferies, published in Goodspeed's History of Barry Co.:

"... William Jefferies was of English descent, and was born in TN in 1812. He resided in his native state until after his marriage, when he removed to Clinto Co. KY, where he resided until 1856. He then removed to Benton Co., AR, thence in 1863 to Lawrence Co., MO, coming to Barry Co. three years later. Here he spent the remainder of his life, dying in 1869. His wife was born in TN in 1813, and is still living. She is the mother of twelve children, viz. Nancy, deceased; John, a farmer in AR, Joshua of Washington Co., AR; Sarah, wife of Hiram Cooper of Barry Co., MO; Susan, wife of John Gilham of Barry Co. MO: William, deceased; Lucretta, wife of Thomas Wells of Barry Co., MO; James of Barry Co., MO; Clara, wife of George Counts, of Madison Co., AR: Victoria, wife of Alexander Fritz; Lawson, deceased; and Thomas H., Monett, MO."
