Albert Wolfe Burrage, 71, passed away at his home in Canon City, Colorado.

He was born July 5 ,1942 to Robert Wells and Beatrice Ruth (Greaves-Wolfe) Burrage in Dover, Delaware.

Al grew up in Pompano Beach, Florida, where he participated in his two loves: varsity football and playing saxophone in the school band. Because of his musical abilities and skill, Al would play the sax in nightclubs all over the South as an older teen and into his early twenties.

Albert was an enthusiastic fisherman, and loved the opportunity to fish in whatever part of the country he happened to be at the time.

Al joined the United State Army on November 12, 1963, and proudly served his country as a bandsman and First Sergeant for the United States Army Band until December 1, 1991, when he retired. During his years of service, Albert received many awards and commendations, including being awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces while serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.

After retiring from the military, Albert moved to Crailsheim, Germany, where he resided for the next 17 years. Al played the saxophone professionally for different bands, and gave of his time to conduct and organize various town bands and ensembles. ln 2008, Albert moved to Canon City, Colorado, for the remainder of his life.

Al is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole (Burrage) and Jeff Worley , and his three grandsons, Aaron Jeffrey, Alexander Lee , and Adam Benjamin.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., at Lakeside Cemetery, in Canon City, Colorado. Arrangements entrusted to Harwood Funeral Home.
