The funeral service for E. J. (Fat) Baeth, 83, of Marion ND was held Monday, November 11, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at the Marion Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Faaland officiating. burial is in Lakeview Cemetery, Marion. He died Friday, November 8, 1996 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND.
E. J. (Fat) Baeth was born June 9, 1913, in Malta, MT, the son of Hans and Annie (Bendixson) Baeth. His family moved to Canada by covered wagon, living there three years and then returned to Moffit, ND, in the early thirty's. he married Hannah Ennen on November 22, 1935. They moved to Marion in 1937 where they farmed for 20 years. He was later employed by J.C. Miller Elevator and Marion Equity Elevator over a period of twenty years, retiring in 1975. He served as Marion's Fire Chief for 13 years, was a member of the Marion Wildlife Club and member of Marion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his retirement as an avid sportsman, hunting, golfing, fishing and bowling. He loved watching all kinds of sports and dearly loved people. His many friends will miss his positive attitude and friendly smile.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hannah Baeth, of Marion, two sons and a daughter, Kenneth (Karen) Baeth, of Marion, Eileen Monson of Jamestown, Ronnie (Linda) Baeth, of New London, MN, five granddaughters, three grandsons, and eight great-grandchildren, a brother, Buster Baeth of Apache Junction, AZ, and a sister, Catherine Blake, of Valley City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and his son-in-law.
Funeral arrangements were by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
