ALICEVILLE, ALA. Virginia Wetherbee Collins, age 81, of Aliceville, died July 13, 2010, at home. A memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at Aliceville First Baptist Church with Dr. P. Joe Whitt officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be at the church immediately following the service.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, Milton Curry "Sonny" Collins of Aliceville, Ala.; daughters, Barbara Henderson (Joe) of Snyder, Texas and Ginny Wiggins (Max) of Boise, Idaho; son, Joe Collins (Sunny) of Aliceville, Ala.; sisters, Mary Pratt (Tommy) and Betty Jo Wetherbee; three grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor (Rob) of Snyder, Texas, Jody Proffitt (Amy) of Long Beach, Miss. and Wetherly Collins of New York, N.Y.; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Proffitt; and one niece, Deborah Clark (Baker).

Mrs. Collins was born March 7, 1929, in Electric Mills, Mississippi to the late Joe A. Wetherbee and Earlyne Sanders Wetherbee. She was a lifelong member of Aliceville First Baptist Church where she served as secretary for 25 plus years, after "just going to help out". She was a Charter member of New Era Arts Club, member of Pickens County DAR, The Gardner's and Treasurer of Garden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored to have memorials made to Garden Cemetery, Hospice of West Alabama, Aliceville Public Library, Aliceville Museum or Aliceville First Baptist Church. Published in Tuscaloosa News on July 14, 2010
