Nina L. Brug was born Oct. 8, 1915, in Burwell, Neb., to Hugh and Josephine (Hetrick) Bodle. In 1918, she traveled with her parents and three siblings in a covered wagon to Buffalo, Wyo. She married Peter Brug in Sheridan, Wyo., on Nov. 25, 1933. To them were born three sons and one daughter.

In 1941, the family homesteaded in Sunny Slope west of Fairfield, then in 1950, leaving many close friends, they moved to Townsend, where they farmed the Rankin place. They moved to Hysham around 1953, then left farming, adventuring to Ventura, Calif., in 1961. Pete worked for the city of Ventura, and Nina worked at a school cafeteria. Missing Montana they moved back to Townsend in 1967, and farmed once again.

Nina had a huge love for family; she loved dancing the polka with Dad and playing pinochle was a very big part of her life. She was the best apple-pie maker there was and was famous in her family for her chocolate cake!

Nina went to be with the Lord and her family and friends on Aug. 10, 2011.

Preceding Nina in death were her husband, Pete, and grandsons Scott Brug and Tom Croom.

Survivors include her children, Allen (Irene), Douglas (Glenna), Gordon (Florence), and Karen (Jim) Croom; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Deep Creek Cemetery in Townsend.

Connors Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
