Couple Fatally Shot At Munday

MUNDAY, Tex. (Special) - V.R. Anderson, 80, a retired farmer, and his wife, 74, were shot to death at their residence here Wednesday.

Services are pending at McCauley Funeral Home.

Justice of the Peace Billye Montgomery pronounced the Andersons dead at the scene and ruled the deaths murder-suicide.

Mrs. Montgomery set the time of Mrs. Anderson's death at 11:45 a.m. and her husband's at 11:50 a.m.

Passersby told officers Mrs. Anderson ran from her home and collapsed in the front yard. Her husband's body was found inside the house.

Police chief Bobby Stone and Knox County Sheriff H.C. Stone said Mrs. Anderson was shot in the head and upper and lower right shoulder with a .22 caliber rifle. Anderson was shot once in the head, they reported.

Officers said food was on a table and the Andersons apparently were about to eat lunch.

Police are investigating the shootings.
