Curtis Edward Jenkins, Jr., 73 of Riceville, died Sunday morning, May 25, 2014 at his residence.
A native of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Curtis Edward, Sr. and Sallie Newsome Jenkins. He was of the Protestant faith.
He owned and operated a Transmission Shop in New Port Richy, Florida for 35 years, until his retirement. He had been a McMinn County resident for the past 3 years, and Bradley County for 4 years before that. He served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Bolton Jenkins of Riceville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer and Charles Johnson of Knoxville; and Stephanie Jenkins of Crossville; one granddaughter, Brittany Johnson of Knoxville; one sister, Margie Isles, Beaver, PA; and one brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Fannie Jenkins of Tarboro, NC.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home in Athens and then transported to the Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton, NC where a graveside service will be conducted, Friday, May 30, 2014 at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Norlina, NC.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 County Road, 447, Athens, TN 37303 or Caris Health Care Hospice, 421 Old Riceville Road, Athens, TN 37303.
