Mr. Hilbun was born to the union of David Fleming Hilbun and Julia Ann Rebecca Brock, who married in Ouachita Parish on July 6, 1854. He married Mary Elizabeth Neal in Winn Parish on September 28, 1899. He and Mary raised their family in Winn Parish until sometime between 1910-1918, when they moved to Jackson Parish. A few years later, they moved again to Franklin Parish.
Survivors included his wife, Mary Neal Hilbun; eight sons, Charles Arnold, Louis, Gordon, Curtis, Albert, Mayo, Elmer, and Gerald Hilbun; one daughter, Helen Hilbun; two sisters, Jessie Wilson and Alice Brady; and one brother, Robert L. Hilbun.
