Between 1772 and 1787, more than 50 families moved from Middleborough, Mass. to Woodstock, VT. Ephraim joined this migration sometime during the 1780's. He probalby followed his brother John, and their uncles Charles and Thomas. There is only one Ephraim Ellis in the Vermont censuses of 1790,1800, (both Woodstock) and 1810 (Greensboro, Orleans Co. VT)

Ephraim is buried in the Ellis Cemetery about one mile north of Chesterhill on State Highway 377, then about a half mile east on Morgan County Road 52. There are only a few Graves in this cemetery. Ephraim's tombstone read:" IN MEMORY OF EPHRAIM ELLIS REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE MAR. 11, 1849 AGE
83 YS 8 MS 26 DS"

Gravesite Details

This is a different Ellis Cemetery than the one also known as Mt Ebal. Some of his children are there, but Ephraim is buried in the one noted here.
