Thelma was the daughter of David Anderson and Velma Mae Kivett. She first married James David Boskill 24 July 1959 in Topeka, Shawnee County, KS.

Widowed in 1964, she married/2 Lyle Honig 8 June 1968, also in Topeka. She had a son and 5 daughters.

Thelma I. Honig, 68, Wamego, died Saturday, June 23 in her home.

Some of the following information was provided by her family.

She was a long-time member of the community. She was born Aug. 31, 1938, at her uncle and aunt's farm near Holyoke, Colo., the daughter of David and Velma Mae (Kivett) Anderson. She attended school at Summerfield, Kansas, graduating from high school in 1956.

Thelma married James David Boskill on July 24, 1959 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1964. She then married Lyle H. Honig on June 8, 1968 in Topeka. They celebrated their 39th anniversary this month.

She was employed for more than 20 years by the USD 320 food service, and was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego, where she was LWML. She enjoyed quilting, working puzzles and reading in her retirement years. She was a very loving person, as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and was "Aunt Thelma" to many very special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

Thelma is survived by her husband; a son, Lyle H. Honig Jr., North Hollywood, Calif.; five daughters, Susan Rush and her husband, Larry, Manhattan, Elana Mishelle, Studio City, Calif., Janet Boskill, Topeka, Patti Schierkolk and her husband, Wayne, St. Marys, and Kimberly Long, Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren, Jared Schierkolk, Jessica Carpenter, Ryan and Tyler Rush, all of Manhattan, and Benjamin and Christopher Long, both of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Ginger Self and her husband, Larry, Muscotah, and Alice Battershell and her husband, Dean, Lyons; four brothers, Don Anderson and his wife, Bernice, Mooreland, Okla., Vern Anderson and his wife, Shirley, Topeka, James Anderson and his wife, Marinell, Bella Vista, Ark., and Richard Anderson, Topeka; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego, with Rev. Jim Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at St. Luke Lutheran South Cemetery, south of Wheaton. Mrs. Honig will lie-in-state beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego, where the family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or the Wamego Public Library, and left in the care of the mortuary. Online condolences may be left at www.campanella funeral.com.
