ROLAND BARNES, AMES.

Roland LeRoy “Rolly” Barnes, 76, of Ames died of a heart attack Wednesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center there. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Ames. Burial will be at Nevada Cemetery in Nevada.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Tipton and had lived in Ames since 1930. He was a former manager of the Ames Gold and Country Club and also worked for the Atomic Energy Department at Iowa State University and National Animal Disease Laboratory before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; a son, Ronald of Loudonville, Ohio; a daughter, Marilyn Thompson of Kelley; a brother, Royal of Ellsworth; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
