He went by his middle name Ellis.
He was married 1st to Lela M Stokes (1905–1940), the daughter of Thomas Mathew Stokes (1870–1945) and Annie Mae (Rose) Stokes (1879–1932). They were married in Hopkinsville on October 25, 1928. They also had a stillborn boy on Aug. 27. 1936. Lela was also Ellis 1st cousin. Ellis was married 2nd to Nancy Ellen Perry on Nov. 14, 1945.
Ellis was a farmer and married when he died of TB on February 23, 1952 in Elkton. Burial was two days later in Tabernacle Cemetery.
