Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Thursday, October 23, 1952, page 4:
  Mrs. Lona Almira Sullivan, 61, 242 Crane street, died Wednesday at 6:25 p.m. at St. Joseph hospital Alton from complications of an illness of the past six months. She has been a resident of Edwardsville for the past 38 years.
  She was born Nov. 8, 1890 at Worden where she resided until moving to Edwardsville. She attended the Worden schools. She was the daughter of the late Riley J. and Almira McGilvary Smith. She was married to Ralph W. Sullivan March 1, 1910, in Edwardsville.
  Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Miss Loretta and Miss Elva Lee Sullivan and Mrs. Harold (Vera) Gardner all of Edwardsville; one brother, Arthur Smith of Godfrey; three sisters, Mrs. Charles R. (Emma) Martin of Alton, Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Best of Worden, Mrs. Hannah James of St. Louis; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One daughter, Ethelyn, preceded her mother in death March 29, 1952 and one sister Mrs. Roy (Lizzie) Swain also preceded her in death.
  She was a member of the First Christian church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Letter Carriers association and also the Royal Neighbors Camp of Edwardsville.
  The body may be viewed at Lesley Marks funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the First Christian church to lie in state until the time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. F. Brown officiating.
  Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Pallbearers were Victor Smith, Everett Swain, Charles Ward, Alfred Pressley, Fred Gardner and Russel Carver.
