Robert "Robbie" Bradler, Sr. was my Grandfather. He was the son of Charlie & Sadie Bradler (nee Fitzpatrick). His siblings were: Francis, Dorothy "Dolly" and Kate. He married Margaret "Margie" O'Connor. He was the Father of James, Denise (died age 2), Robert Jr., Thomas, Denis, Peggy & John (stillborn). He worked at Godrey's Bakery. He worked as longshoreman mostly on Pier 92 at the loading dock in N.Y. City. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, which President Roosevelt established to help overcome the Great Depression. He worked during WWII on the unsuccessful attempt at raising the Normandie, a luxury French oceanliner, when it capsized in the N.Y. harbor. He and Margie were married for over 40 years. At the time of his passing he had 7 grandchildren. He always gave my brother and I a gift whenever we saw him. Robbie was happy go lucky, had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh and is very much loved & missed.
