Richard W. ''Dick" Anthony, 80, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, formerly of 104 Reynolds Ave., Mont Alto, died at 2:15 p.m, Wednesday, March 4, 1998, in the nursing home.
He had been in failing health for the past several years and critically ill since Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998. Born July 25, 1917, in Shady Grove, he was the son, of the late Edgar F. and Carrie K. (Smith) Anthony. He lived his early life in Shady Grove.
Mr. Anthony served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the South Pacific Theater.
He and his wife of more than 44 years, Pauline L. (Benshoff) Anthony, were married July 31, 1953. They moved to the Reynolds Avenue address in November 1964. Mr. Anthony entered the nursing home on Dec. 15, 1992. He was employed in the cutting department of Waynesboro Knitting Mill. Prior to retiring in 1983, he worked in technical services for Penn State, Mont Alto Campus for 12 years.
He was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by some cousins.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Waynesboro Church of the Brethren with Pastor Brent K. Driver and Chaplain C. Albert Guyer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.
