Sarah was the daughter of Joseph Jacob Albright and Catherine Darager. Sarah married John Lewis Kanzleiter on February 6, 1872 in Crawford Co., Ohio. Their five children, Ursula, John, Blanche, Lester and Reno, were born in Buycrus, Crawford Co., Ohio. Reno was born just a few months before the family relocate to Hutchinson, Reno Co., Kansas. According to Sarah's granddaughter Ida Staub, they traveled for three months in a covered wagon to reach Hutchinson. Sarah and John worked at or managed a restaurant, during much of their stay in Hutchinson. In 1900 John listed his occupation as farmer which may have been due to his acquiring a homestead in the Oklahoma Territory by application for unclaimed parcels or parcels that reverted to the government due to abandonment. In 1901 the family moved to the homestead near Woodward, Oklahoma. They proved-up on the homestead but sold it in 1909 and moved back to Hutchinson, KS where they remained until 1913. Sarah and John then moved to Tacoma, Washington, where their sons Lewis and John were living and working. John died two years later in Tacoma. Sarah remained in Tacoma until 1923 when she moved back to Hutchinson with her son Lester and his children and lived with them until she died.
