Obituary-Mrs. Albert Allen

Mrs. Annie Smith Allen was born in Warren county, Iowa, May 19, 1883 and died March 15, 1911 at her home near Dexter, Iowa. She was married Feb. 5, 1902 to Albert Allen, to them was born six children, two dying in infancy; the living are, Roy, Irene, Carrie and little Floyd, three days old at her death. She also leaves a kind and loving husband, a father and mother, one sister and three brothers to mourn this kind, indulgent mother, wife, daughter and sister.

In her early life she imbibed the Catholic faith and lived as she died, an earnest Christian. Although her last illness was full of suffering and pain, her thoughts were of others, her little ones being always her care. She failed rapidly the last days, all that good medical aid and kind loving hands could do was of no avail and on Wednesday morning, she bade her husband and family good bye, kissed her little ones and resigned herself to God's will and to the last preserved the faith and courage that had sustained her short life. She was a kind and loving mother and her faith and cheerfulness will ever prove an example to those left behind.

Thursday morning, her remains were brought to her girlhood home, the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Smith in Lee township. There the relatives, friends and schoolmates came to see for the last time on earth, their friend and console the broken hearted husband, father, mother, brothers, and sister. The brothers Joe, Ace, Willie and sister Maggie are all residents of this place. The funeral occurred Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Father Dugan, and was one of the largest in those part for years. She was laid to rest beside her little children who had gone before. "May she rest in peace".
