Waldo Nelson "Paps" Cochran, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV.

He was born August 22, 1938 in Webster County, WV, a son of the late Leslie and Virgie Clutter Cochran.

On June 24, 1961 he married Martha Tenney who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Jeffrey Cochran and wife Karen of Buckhannon, Douglas Cochran and wife Cynthia of Frenchton, WV, Randall Cochran and wife Janella of Buckhannon and Christopher Cochran and companion Pam of Hodgesville, WV; two daughters, Melissa Smith of Buckhannon and Andrea Booker and husband Randy of Warren, OH; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters; special extended family, Scott Smith and Tina Bevins both of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, John Marshall Cochran; two grandsons, Stephen Tyler Cochran and Jeffrey Waldo Cochran, II and one brother.

Mr. Cochran served in the US Army. He was a member of the New Beginnings House of Worship of Buckhannon. Mr. Cochran was a retired Truck Driver and a caretaker for Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility.

"Paps" enjoyed his family, grandchildren, old cars, going to church, and his special dog Chi-Chi who he cherished. He will be greatly missed by his wife Martha, family, friends and all who knew him.

Friends will be received Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 3-9 PM at the New Life Tabernacle. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday at the New Life Tabernacle with Pastor Jerry Murrell, Pastor William Mooring and Pastor Jeffrey Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.

The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses.
