He died in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1842. He was buried in the City Cemetery in Cincinnati.


His body was moved to this cemetery in 1859. (You can see his faint inscription on the family marker on the side below his father.)


Finally in 1929, his body was moved to the Hamilton College Cemetery in Clinton, Oneida Co., NY.

"Perhaps in the lapse of gererations, when I who am now making these reflections, this present Samuel Eells who now sits at his table and pens these lines, shall be but a handful of dust sleeping in an unknon grave, --then perhaps some noble and ingeneous youth just starting full of hope and vigor in the great race of life will peruse this record, and when he has finished will lay his hand thoughtfully on his brow and wonder what manner of man was this Samuel Eells ..."
