LUBBOCK - Tommie E. Anderson, 62, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rix Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. John H. Ballard officiating.

Mr. Anderson was born in Addington, Okla. After graduating from Vernon High School in 1956, he attended Texas Tech University and worked as a registered professional land surveyor for Hugo Reed, retiring as president in 1999.

In 1983 he was named surveyor of the year by the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. In 1984 he served as publicity chairman for the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping National Meeting. He coordinated the film, "Surveying Texas Style," for TSPS.

A musician, he played trumpet as a charter member of the band "Jazz Alley" and recorded background music for area musicians, including the Maines Brothers Band and Joe Ely.

He was a member and past president of Lubbock Executive Association, Hillcrest Country Club and the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians and a 32nd degree Mason.

He married Patsy Blevins in 1959.

His daughter, Kristy Godyn, died in 1986.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Amy Carlile of Lubbock; two brothers, Grover Anderson of Quincy, Ill., and Jimmie Anderson of Vernon; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Kristy A. Godyn Memorial Scholarship Fund at Covenant School of Nursing, 2002 Miami Ave., Lubbock, TX 79410.
