Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. until time of service. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Kramer Chapel on Wednesday.
Michael Gerard Mathews, 63, of West Monroe, formerly of Boyce passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, peacefully in his residence.
He is preceded in death by his father Thomas J. "Tom" Mathews, Sr.; and his in-laws, Lawrence and Iris Bennett.
Michael was a 1969 graduate of Holy Savior Menard High School and a 1973 graduate of LSU. He worked as a Design Engineer for 41 years with AT& T. Michael coached for the Dixie Boys League for over 20 years. He loved his family and all of the time he was able to spend with them. He was also an avid LSU Fan. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, who will be dearly missed.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 41 years, Blanche B. Mathews; his children: Michael Ryan Mathews and his wife Pamela, and Dustin Lawrence Mathews and his wife Amber, all of West Monroe; his mother, Alice Peterman Mathews of Alexandria; four brothers, Tommy Mathews and his wife Delores of Alexandria, Gerald Mathews and his wife Marita of Kingwood, TX, Lynn Mathews and his wife Donna of Boyce, and Jeff Mathews and his wife Arlene of Kingwood, TX; three grandchildren: Kaylee Grace, Payton Michael, and Emma Lee Mathews; along with "Man's Best Friend" Mickey Mathews.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Tommy Mathews, Gerald Mathews, Lynn Mathews, Jeff Mathews, Gary McManus and Larry Bratton.
