Walter Andrew Hoyle, Sr., age 87, of the Estatoe Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 19th, 2014 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Mitchell County he was a son of the late Clarence and Myrtle Hoppes Hoyle. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Larry Hoyle. He was an Army Veteran having served in World War II. Walter was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where he served as Superintendent, Chairman of the Trustees from 1952-2008 and Sunday School teacher. He was a Boy Scout leader from 1959 until 1973, worked at American Thread for 19 years as a computer operator and was owner of Hoyle Grocery for a number of years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved traveling.

Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Irene McKinney Hoyle; sons: Wally Hoyle and wife, Vickie and Keith Hoyle and wife, Debra, all of Penland; sister, Reba Willis of Bakersville; daughter-in-law, Debra J. Hoyle of Penland; grandchildren: Chris Hoyle and wife, Hillary, Andy Hoyle and wife, Julie, all of Penland, Kellie Chapman and husband, Randall, of Spruce Pine, Brandee Burleson and husband, Dylan, of Penland, Candace Sparks and husband, Daryl, of South Toe, Tiffany Veridal and husband, Josh, of Hendersonville; great-grandchildren: Caleb Hoyle, Kendall Chapman, Carter Hoyle, Mylee Chapman, Raven Hoyle, Mason Sparks, Avee and Bree Burleson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Ray will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
