CALDWELL — Services for Susie Tippit, 94, of Caldwell will be 10 a.m. today, Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Interment will be 2:30 p.m. today in Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River-Academy.
Mrs. Tippit died Tuesday, May 20, at her residence.
She was born April 8, 1920, to William Aubra and Stella Mae Johnson Henderson in the Three Forks community near Little River-Academy. On July 17, 1937, she married Johnnie Andrew Tippit. She was a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home for 10 years, and was a volunteer for 25 years at RSVP. She was vice president of the board of directors for Caldwell Senior Citizen Center, and for a short time was acting president, until January 2014. She was on the board of directors of the Cade Lake Volunteer Fire Department. She was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for the USA Freedom Corp. In 2001, she was nominated by the Caldwell Senior Center as Outstanding Senior Citizen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a great-grandchild.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Tippit and Billy Tippit; a daughter, Elsie Cheairs; a brother, William Arron Henderson; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
