Mrs. Virginia Johnson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gus Fisher, north of Comanche. Her body was taken to her former home in Coryell County where interment was made in the Sycamore Cemetery, near Ireland. Services were conducted by Rev. Whitefield, pastor of the Ireland Methodist Church. Grandma Johnson, as she was affectionately called by her relatives and friends, was born in Louisiana on 25 September 1847. She came with her parents to Texas at an early age, settling in the eastern part of Texas. She married D.V. Johnson in Alto, Texas. to this union six children were born, two died in infancy. Those surviving are - Mrs. J.E. Estes, J.V. Johnson, Mrs. L.M. Squires, Mrs. J.A. "Gus" Fisher; one brother - T.J. Cook; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. For the most part of the last several years, Mrs. Johnson has made her home in the Sidney Community with her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Fisher. Mrs. Johnson was converted and united with the Methodist Church in 1861 and remained a member until her death.
