Furman C. Doty, 74, of Clinton, Iowa, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the University of Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Clinton Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from 4-6PM Wednesday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory.
Furman was born May 23, 1939 in Benton, PA, the son of Furman and Thelma (McHenry) Doty. He was a high school graduate and attended Eastern Christian College. Furman married Karen Holton on June 6, 1964 in Bel Air, MD; she died January 1, 2013.
Furman was employed with Chicago & Northwestern Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 48 years, he retired in 2004.
He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ and loved to golf.
Survivors include his son, Wade (Tia Holt) Doty of Clinton; grandchildren, Carley, Virginia and Manny Doty; sister, Cindy (Ron) Roland of PA; brothers, Ed Doty of TN and Dean Doty of PA; and In-laws, William (Loetta) Holton of Fulton, IL and Gayleen (Gene) Beavers of Mt Pleasant, MI.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents a brother and a sister.
Memorials may be made to the Clinton Church of Christ.
