Married Lucinda Hull on July 27, 1856 in Calhoun County, AL.

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Thursday, January 10, 1918, p. 8:

Man, 88, Dies, Body Falls in Open Fire, Found by Grandson

With his body badly charred and his clothes partially burned off, A. J. Brumley, 88, was found dead in his home in Englewood Heights late Wednesday by a grandson, T. A. Lamkin. The latter had gone to visit with his grandfather. Justice of the Peace Moore held an inquest and gave it as his opinion that the aged man had died suddenly while sitting near the fire and had fallen on the hearth where his clothing took fire.

Brumley had lived largely to himself for a number of years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. C. A. Lamkin, and the following grandchildren: T. A. Lamkin, E. L. Lamkin, Elsie Lamkin and Mrs. H. E. Worbes, all of Fort Worth, and Mrs. J. R. Lightfoot and W. H. Lamkin of Dallas.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of the Fort Worth Undertaking Company this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
