Paul was born on September 5, 1946 in Detroit, MI. He married Pat Reif on June 25, 1977. She survives him.
Paul worked for the Michigan State Police from 1972 to 1997, retiring as Detective Sergeant in the Fire Marshall Division. He continued working for the State of Michigan for the Consumer Industry Services as a fire inspector, retiring in 2003. After retirement, he also worked as a school bus driver, Independence Village driver, Sam Bernstein Law Firm, and as a driver for Mike Young GMC Buick.
Paul was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and supervised their Media Ministry.
