Daughter of Joseph Jenks and Sarah King, according to "Genealogy of the Jenks Family in America," comp. by William B. Brown [Concord, NH, 1952], Lydia was fourth born of the Jenks' seven known children.

Married to Levi4 Colvin [Jeremiah3, John2, John1] in Scituate, Providence Co., RI, 10 Sep 1763, Lydia was the mother of five known children: Jeremiah [12 Oct 1765], Jonathan [12 Aug 1767], Sanford G. [2 Mar 1770], Alpheus [29 Mar 1773] and Safety Colvin [19 Aug 1777]. All but the youngest were born in Rhode Island although birth dates for all were entered in Clarendon, Rutland Co., VT, records.

The Colvins removed from Rhode Island to Vermont before 1774 [when the former state's military census was taken]. Lydia's husband, Levi, served in the Clarendon Militia, attaining the rank of Ensign, during the Revolutionary War.

Final Note: Lydia probably was buried with her husband in Chippenhook Cemetery, Clarendon, Rutland Co., VT, but numerous Colvin and county researchers have been able to find neither burial record nor grave marker.
