His mother died in 1916 and his father married again before 1920 when the family resided at North East, Pennsylvania and his father was a house carpenter. Grant relocated to Jamestown, New York about 1925 where he was a steam shovel engineer. He resided at Celeron, New York in 1926 when he was a shovel operator with Builders Supply Company at Jamestown. He resided at Clymer, New York in 1948 when he was a shovel operator with A & K Builders Supplies Incorporated at Jamestown. Grant married to widow, Evelyn Davis Smith on 16 March 1970 at Bradenton, Florida. Grant and Evelyn had no children.
