Born Tuesday, August 3, 1920 to Samuel Jerome Goad and Lizzie Jennie Webber, Irene lived her entire life in Southeast Roanoke and Vinton. A beautician by trade, "Mama 'Rene" was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She worked as a beautician until her retirement in 2010 at age 90. Irene practiced her faith by witnessing to others and was active in leadership positions for most of her life at Waverly Place Baptist Church in Roanoke.
