He was born May 31, 1910, in Rolla, Mo., the son of Hubbard and Dora Love Atkins. He married Elizabeth Ringle Dec. 24, 1936, in Rock Island. She died in 1991.
He had been employed at International Harvester Co., Farmall Works, for 33 years, retiring in 1969 as a core assembler.
He had attended First Free Evangelical Church, Moline. He was an Army veteran.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was an avid Cardinals fan since 1925.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Paul DeYoung, Rock Island, and Lois and Dr. Steven Hawk, Leesburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
