WILLIAM JONES KING was born in Providence, R. I., June 14, 1803. He was the son of Elijah King, Jr., of Dighton, Mass., and Providence, R. I.. Mr. King married in Lebanon, Conn., Oct. 20, 1832, Lydia Coit Gilbert, who was born in Coventry, Conn., April 4, 1807, and died in Providence, R. I., Feb. 9, 1884. She was a daughter of Solomon and Lydia (Morgan) Gilbert, of Lebanon, Conn., and Providence, R. I. Mr. King died in Providence, Aug. 8, 1885, and both he and Mrs. King are buried at Swan Point cemetery, Providence. They had children as follows:
1. Elizabeth Gilbert, born Feb. 13, 1835;
2. William Jones, born Oct. 14, 1837, who died April 15, 1904;
3. Charles Goodrich, born Jan. 3, 1840, who died Aug. 27, 1881;
4. Edward Gilbert, born Nov. 20, 1841, who died Sept. 18, 1872;
5. Frederick Augustus, born Jan. 17, 1844, who died March 22, 1888;
6. Lydia Gilbert, born June 15, 1846, who died June 12, 1885;
7. Theodore Gilbert, born May 28, 1850.
