James Arthur died suddenly while walking along the sidewalk on Main street in the 700 block in Stillwater Monday, March 13, 1939, aged 73 years.

James Arthur was born in Pulaski County, Ky., Jan. 15, 1866. He lived in Kentucky, moved to Reading, Ohio, and then to Payne county in September, 1928.

He was married to Elizabeth Pointer at Pulaski county, Ky., on June 2, 1890. Mrs. Arthur died last Tuesday, March 9, 1939, and services were held March 11, 1939, at the family home.
He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors are two sons, Fred and Oather, Reading, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Goforth, Trafalgar, Ind., Mrs. Cloda Arthur, at home. There are 19 grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Marge Tyre, Mt. Vernon, Ky.; one brother, William, Livingston, Mont.

Funeral services were held at the family home nine miles south, three miles west of Stillwater, on Tuesday, March 14, 1939, at 1 p.m. Rev. A.A. Brady officiating. Burial will be at Tryon cemetery under direction of Strode funeral home.
