Mahlon Bishop, aged 76, died at the Toledo hospital, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 20th, after an illness of cerebral hemorrhage. He was taken to that institution for treatment about ten days ago. The deceased was born in Franklin, Ohio, and came to Auglaize County when about twenty years of age. He was united in marriage with Mary T. Chiles, and to this union the following children were born and survive: David Bishop, Buckland; Isaac W., Lima; Stephen, Mansfield; Clarence, Geyer; Fred, near Quincy; William and Grover, Lima. For many years the deceased resided on a farm south of Wesley Chapel, but following the death of his wife some eighteen years ago he sold the farm property and took up his residence with the children. For three years, up to the time he was taken to the hospital recently, he had made his home with David Bishop, near Buckland. Two sisters also survive the deceased: Mrs. Hester Ann Heston and Mrs. Jane Clark, both residing near Wesley Chapel in Union Township. There are also 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren left to mourn their loss. There also survive other relatives and friends. Mr. Bishop enlisted for the one hundred day service in the Civil War and stayed for that length of time. The body was brought to Wapakoneta from Toledo Sunday evening and placed in the Siferd undertaking parlor until Monday morning, when it was removed to the home of David Bishop. Funeral services from Wesley Chapel, Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 23rd, at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F. G. Boroth of St. Johns. Burial in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
