Mona Lavon was born is Ingalls, Kansas on November 30, 1918 to Richard Emery and Maude (Gossett ) Ray. She was welcomed by her brother Donald. A sister, Glenna, was born several years later.

When she was nine her mother moved to California with the girls and lived with family. Later Fullerton was their home where Mona attended school through the 8th grade.

In 1939 Mona met and married Charles Lewis Baxter in Fullerton. They moved to Venice, California in 1942 where Charles Lewis worked for Douglas Aircraft. In 1953 the family moved back to Fullerton.

Children born to the marriage were Richard of Orange, CA; Charles of Washougal, WA; Sandra of Garland, TX; William who is deceased; Lavon Rutledge of Lake Havasu, AZ; Ladene Myers of Emmett,ID and Preston of Spirit Lake, ID.

She was blessed with a whole bunch of grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grand daughter and one great-
great grandson.

Mona was a housewife with some part time employment.

She enjoyed coloring in color books, reading, watching TV, costume jewelry, collecting spoons and bells, and trips to Hawaii.
One of her passions was Elvis Presley and any memorabilia about him she could collect. For years it was Bing Crosby until
she decided he was "too old".

Mona was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Charles Lewis, brother Richard Emery Jr. (died at birth), son William, and three grandchildren.

She was a member of First Baptist church while living in Emmett, ID.

Her last 14 months were spent in Columbia Ridge Assisted Senior Living in Washougal, WA.

She will be remembered for her love for her family, often communicated with a bear hug,

Her faith was simple and her hope was in heaven because of her faith in Jesus Christ.
