EDON -- James R. Livensparger, 65, of rural Edon, died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008, in his home after an extended illness.


He was born Dec. 18, 1942, near Edon, the son of Orville and Bessie (Smith) Livensparger. In 1962, he married Sharon Schaffter, who survives. He graduated from Edon High School in 1960, and worked at Thiel Construction and Supply Center for 25 years, retiring as manager. He was a member of Columbia Church of Christ, near Edon, where he was a deacon, elder and treasurer. He was a charter member of Lake Area Christian Church near Fremont, Ind. He served three terms on the Edon Northwest Local Board of Education and was formerly a Pony League baseball coach.


Also surviving are a daughter, Bobbi (Mark) Jackson, Edon; a son, Bill (Kelly), Montpelier; two sisters, Betty (Paul) Pawlikowski of Holland, Mich., and Helen (Orren) Van Zile of Montpelier; three brothers, Bob (Mary) of Hamilton, Ind., Marlin (Karol) of Edon and Stuart (DeAnn), Littleton, Colo.; and four grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Gerald and Marion, and Richard and Orville Jr. in infancy; and a grandson.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Columbia Church of Christ, near Edon, with Pastor Scott Saltsmann officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in Krill Funeral Home, Edon.
