She was born August 7, 1927 in Rush County to James Welcome & Maude (Benham) Aikin. She was a 1945 Mays High School graduate. Evie married Charles R. "Chuck" Fahrner on September 29, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2011.
Evaleah was a long time member of the Main Street Christian Church. She worked many years at Public Paint & Wallpaper Store in Rushville. She was an avid bowler, mushroom hunter & gardener. She loved her volunteer work at Main Street Christian Church & Rush Memorial Hospital. Evaleah was also a great cook & had a humorous & lively spirit!
She is survived by daughters, Elaine Fahrner & Cindy of Nashville, TN and Juli Fahrner & Tammy of Columbus, OH, a son, Greg Fahrner & wife Becky of Hollywood, MD, a sister, Margaret "Meg" Billings & husband Paul of Kearney, MO and granddaughters, Aimee' Gregory & Kati Fahrner. She also leaves behind two very special friends whom she considered her family: Lisa Seaborn and Marsha Brooks. They took wonderful care of Evie in both sickness and in health and the family will be forever grateful.
Evie's family would also like to extend our deepest appreciation for Hospice. They were magnificent in their care.
Those who knew Evaleah will miss her humor, kindness and warmth.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Monday, May 12 at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery with Rev. Sam Davenport presiding.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rushville Animal Shelter or Our Hospice of Decatur County.
