EARL M. ALKEK
Funeral services for Earl M. Alkek, 57, of 1103 N. Oliver Sr., who was dead on arrival at 5:25 p.m. Saturday at a local hospital after a sudden illness, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
The Rev. Joseph Petsch will officiate.
Burial will be in Colonial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home until 2 p.m. Monday when it will be taken to the church for the services.
A rosary was recited Sunday night at the funeral home chapel.
Born Jan. 8, 1922, in Victoria, Mr. Alkek was a lifetime resident of Victoria and was a groceryman at Dick's Lone Tree Supermarket. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, a member of VFW Post No. 4146, and served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Alkek, and his mother, Bertha Chakur Alkek.
Mr. Alkek is survived by his wife, Virginia Alkek of Victoria; a daughter, Lee Ann Alkek of Victoria; two sons, Stephen Martin Alkek of Houston and Randall Earl Alkek of Victoria; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Lewis of Victoria; two brothers, David Alkek and Edward Alkek, both of Victoria; and a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Dr. David Alkek, Alvin Massough, Fred Hasford, Clem Garcia, Eddie Ganem and Billy Cattan.
Honorary pallbearers are Richard and Alex Dick Jr., Bill Joseph, Sammy Dick Sr. and Gary Holer.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
