FINCHUM, MRS. JESSIE MAE (BALES) - age 86, of Corryton, passed away 9:10 a.m., Friday, May 8, 1998, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Preceded in death by husband, Mitchell C. Finchum; great-grandson, Mark Stringfield. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Jane Dougherty, Corryton, Mrs. Wilma (Leslie) Shular, Powell; sons, Billy Ray (Ila) Finchum, Sr.; daughter, Mrs. Judy (Paul) Haynes, all of Corryton; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Adrian Bales, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Saturday, Stevens Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Thomas Markwood officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary to leave in procession for a 2 p.m. graveside service at Clapps Chapel Cemetery, Corryton. Pallbearers: Larry Dougherty, Gary Shular, Billy Ray Finchum, Jr., Barry Haynes, George Dougherty, and Michael Shular. Honorary pallbearers, Rodney Haynes and Mitchell Dougherty. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at Broadway.
