Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow. The body will lie in state from 10 until 2 tomorrow.
Mrs. Jennie E. Wetherby Yoe, widow of the late W. T. Yoe, died at the family home at 12:10 this morning after an illness of more than three months. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Yoe was one of the few remaining pioneers of Independence, coming here with her husband in 1871. Mr. Yoe, one of the founders of the Southeast Kansas Tribune, oldest newspaper in southeast Kansas, died in 1923.
Born in Jackson, Mich., July 16, 1848, she moved with her parents to Shelbina, Mo., where she grew to womanhood. She was married, October 5, 1869, celebrating her golden wedding anniversary in 1919.
She was one of the charter members of the First Methodist church and until recently was an active worker in church circles.
Seven children survive. They are: Roy W. Yoe of Tyro; Warren W. Yoe of Carson, Wash.; George H. Yoe of Bartlesville; Mrs. Edna M. Bryant of Venice, Calif.; Earl A. Yoe, Mrs. Ruth A. Arey and Miss Harriet Yoe of Independence.
The body is at the Potts mortuary awaiting completion of funeral plans. If Warren Yoe is unable to attend the services, they will be held tomorrow, if he is able to come, they will be conducted either Thursday or Friday. Dr. Henry R. Mills will be in charge and the services be held at the home, 202 South Tenth.
