Celestine E. Wiggins NORFOLK
Celestine Eliza Wiggins, 73, of the 900 block of East 26th St., went to be with the Lord on the morning of Nov. 14, 2005. Celestine Eliza was born Oct. 16, 1932, to the late Hezekiah and Mary Phelps. She was the sixth of seven children and was educated in the Norfolk public school system. Celestine was a loving and dedicated wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Wiggins; two brothers, Hezekiah Phelps Jr. and Leander Phelps; and two sisters, Lillie Mae Lindsay and Eleanor Hyman. Celestine leaves to cherish her wonderful memory a devoted husband of 53 years, Barney C. Wiggins Sr.; three sons, Barney Jr. (Rosalyn), Eugene (Angela), both of Virginia Beach and Reginald of Norfolk; two daughters, Adrienne Smith and Rosalyn Hopkins, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Beatrice Kearney of Norfolk and a brother, Dr. Carlton Phelps of Maryland; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Christian wake will be held Sunday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m. at Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk. A graveside memorial service will be held Monday at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. the morning of the service.
