Thomas Walter Burke was born on October 16, 1884 in Tennessee, the son of Nathan C Burke and Martha A Whitley Burke (1846-1925).
A railroad train master, he was married when he died on July 17, 1927 in Ringgold, killed instantly when a chain attached to a derrick broke while wreckage on a railroad was being removed. Burial was the next day in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
