Alvis Patrick Stevison, 84, of Lake Charles, LA died at 4:15 PM on Monday, May 5, 2014 in a local hospital.

Mr. Stevison was born December 17, 1929 in Rosepine, LA and was raised in the Cottonwood Community. He was a 1948 graduate of Evans High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He has lived in Lake Charles, LA for the past sixty-two years. He attended Sowela Technical School while working for Borden's. In 1992, Mr. Stevison retired from CITGO Petroleum, where he worked as on operator for thirty-six years. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed beekeeping as a hobby and sold his honey under the name Stevison Bee Keeping. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing, and loved to repair anything he could get his hands on. He will always be remembered as a kind, gentle giant, who loved his wife, Melba, and family.

Mr. Stevison is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ponder and Edith Stevison; brothers, Arvel, Arnold and Dalton Stevison; and sisters, Genneva Fee and Delores Jarrell.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the First United Pentecostal Church. Reverends Jeffery Ralston, C.D. Thornton, Johnny Donahue, Eddie Tilley, and Tyler Stevison will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service at the church.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to his nurse, Leslie, at St. Patrick Hospital unit 41 for the care and compassion that they received.
