My great grandfather, Robert Edward Raney, was the son of George M. C. Raney and Elizabeth Pecaw. He moved to Smith County, TX about 1889 to live near his aunt, Louisa Ann Raney Houser. He married Glennie Elizabeth Harrington on 8 Jan 1890 and his only son, Ezra Preston Raney, was born on 2 Aug 1890. He abandoned his family in 1891 and never saw his son again. He lived in a common law marriage with his first cousin, Kitty C. Leverett Jones, from about 1898 until his death in 1933. There is no marker on his grave.
