She met and married her husband in San Francisco and after Harold returned from WWII they lived in Oakland, where Harold was raised, from 1945 – 1982, first on 68th Ave. and then in Montclair. They retired to Cameron Park, in the California foothills, where they enjoyed swimming in their pool and traveling around the world.
Pauline worked at the Oakland Army Base early in their marriage, then stayed home with her young children and later worked at State Farm Insurance as a verifier of computer punch cards. She was a seamstress her whole life, a wonderful knitter, in retirement she learned how to weave on a floor loom, and she always enjoyed working in the garden.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, January 10, 2014, 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Greer Family Mortuary, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda. Family and friends are also invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 10:00am to 10:45am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4770 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland, CA. Following the interment at Mt. View Cemetery, there will be a luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to thank the director and staff of St. Regis Retirement Center in Hayward, CA, for the loving and attentive care they gave to our mother.
