Brandon and community were shocked to hear of the sudden death of Clarence Foslien Sunday morning, who had been ill for a few days with pneumonia hopes were entertained for his recovery, until Saturday night when a sudden turn for the worse occurred and he passed away shortly before 8 o'clock in the morning.
Clarence Edward Foslien was born in East Moe March 19, 1903, his parents being, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Foslien. His mother died when he was but two years old and since then he has made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fingar Foslien for a number of years and later at his father's home. He was confirmed in the East Moe church in January 1918. About five years ago he came to Brandon, where he has since resided having the agency for the Rawleigh products in this and surrounding territory. On January 4, 1927 he was married to Miss Eleanore Lye, to this union three children were born, Clinton, Elon and Marvel. Besides his widow and children, he leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband father, son and brother, his father and step-mother Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Foslien near Garfield, the following seven sisters (Evelyn) Mrs. Ben Froemming, (Emma) Mrs. Art Dittberner of Leaf Valley, (Cora) Mrs. Joe Golberg of Rugby, N.D., (Mildred) Mrs. Walter Darkow of Carlos, (Florence) Mrs. Harold Hanson, Bernice Foslien near Garfield and Naomi Foslien of Wolverton, four brothers, Fred of Garfield, Arthur, Arnold and Orrin near Garfield, he also leaves seven nephews and one niece and several aunts, among them Mrs. C. Augdahl near Brandon and Mrs. Frank Foslien of Moe, besides a large number of other relatives and a host of friends who will mourn his untimely departure. Clarence was a member of the Land O' Lakes Community band. Funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. from the house and at 2 o'clock from the Chippewa Luth. Free church, Rev. C. B. Bestul and Rev. R. Larson officiating and was one of the largest funerals ever held in Brandon. Interment was made in Chippewa church cemetery, beside his mother and other members of the family. the pallbearers were six of his cousins, Conrad and Reuben Foslien, Harvey Evenson, Clifford, Edwin and Phillip Augdahl.
