Mrs. Anne Foslien, a pioneer resident of Moe township, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Foslien, on Thursday evening at 9:30. She had spent the past year with her daughter, Mrs. Foslien. She was born at Jefferson Prairie, Wis., on Jan. 22, 1856, and was at the time of her death 86 years, 10 months and 11 days. She grew to womanhood at Jefferson Prairie, Wis., where she received her schooling and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1874 she was married to Finger Foslien and in 1877, with their 2 year old son, Alfred, they came to Minnesota and bought land in Moe township. She continued to live in Moe township until her death. The union of Mr. and Mrs. Foslien was blessed with three children, one son Clarence passed away at the age of 16 and her husband, Finger Foslien, passed away 20 years ago. She is survived by one son, Alfred of Alexandria, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Foslien of Moe township. There are also 22 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren. Mrs. Foslien was a faithful member of the Chippewa Lutheran Free church of Brandon. She was of a quiet and retiring personality and always extended a helpful hand where she was needed. She was the last surviving member of a family of six. The following sisters and brothers have preceded her in death: Gilbert Gilbertson, Edward Gilbertson, Mrs. Lewis Thompson, Mrs. Betsy Thompson and Mrs. Carrie Skow. A meeting to establish one of the first Norwegian Lutheran churches in America was held at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Erick Skavlen, at Jefferson Prairie, Wis., in 1844. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 1 o'clock from the Anderson Funeral Home, and 2 o'clock from the Chippewa Lutheran church of Brandon, Rev. L. B. Sateren officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were her six grandsons, Art, Orrin, Norman, Conrad, Arnold and Reuben Foslien.
