Mary Delree Thurlkill, 73, of El Dorado, passed from this life to a life with the Lord on her birthday, Friday, May 2, 2014, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

She was born May 2, 1941, in Converse, La. She worked as an assembler for Western Electric in Shreveport 15 years before retiring.

Mary Loved the Lord. She attended Mount Union Baptist Church.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, but most of all she adored her family.

She was a loving caregiver especially to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Homer Golden and Pearl McDonald Golden; a son, Anthony Golden; a daughter, Phillis Meshell; and grandson, Jay Golden; brother, E.C. Golden; and four sisters, Elsie Mouser, Sally Beatrice Craig, Adelle Parker and Janette Windham.

She is survived by her husband, R.V. Thurlkill; two sons, Donald Meshell Jr. and Robert Meshell; a brother, Rhodie Golden (Paulette); three step-sons, Virgil "Turk" Thurlkill, Kieth Thurlkill and Richard Thurlkill; two step-daughters, Ann McAdams and Karen Thurlkill; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 this evening at Perry's Funeral Chapels in El Dorado.

There will be a visitation starting at 1 p.m. Monday at Castle Cemetery in Converse, La., with graveside services at 2 p.m. with Brother Chuck Clark officiating under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
